Work in progressMara had been slumped at her kitchen table now for around ten minutes. Right index finger tapping the hardwood top, her green jacket still buttoned up high around her chin, walking boots slightly muddied, placed neatly by the back door, and groceries lay on the countertop by the cupboard, still in the white plastic bag she’d just carried them home in. A quick nip to the shops now, and hopefully he would have left by the time she returned.

Hello, I’m Stacey.
Thanks for stopping by. I was born in Glasgow, moved to Manchester when I was small, and now live in Suffolk with my husband and our daughters. I write full time.
It was only in my forties that I finally decided to make writing my job. Years ago, a police officer told me I should be a writer, but I never took that step. I think I was too worried about people criticising my work. It’s taken a lot of courage, and a lot of work, to find the self-belief to share what I write with you today.
I never set out to write romantasy. My book actually began life as a thriller, but it naturally drifted in another direction. I tend to write what I feel rather than what I know, and I could feel this story moving towards a different genre. I’m happy with where it has landed, and with where I am today.
Away from my desk, I love gardening, and I play padel every week.
